Just Mortgages trains brokers to build businesses

National broker firm Just Mortgages is conducting virtual training for its self-employed brokers to support them to grow their own businesses.

These sessions are the latest investment in developing people, a key part of the Just Mortgages ethos.

The principal training programme is designed to support members of Just Mortgages expanding self-employed division to develop their own teams. The sessions are geared towards giving brokers all the tools they need to recruit, manage and progress their own businesses. Thirty-nine self-employed brokers have already taken on new staff in recent months with the assistance of the programme, and Just Mortgages expects a further 15 by the end of the year.

Self-employed brokers set up their own business under the umbrella of the Just Mortgages brand and benefit from the incredible support that the broker firm provides. The training sessions are currently taking place via video conference and have been extremely popular, with the six-week course being massively over-subscribed.

Those fortunate enough to get a space on the program receive expert tuition from Just Mortgages team of former brokers. They learn the skillset needed for running a team of brokers, how to develop a strategy for their business and crucially, how to run the day-to-day operations.

As part of the training program, Just Mortgages helps brokers learn how to identify and recruit the right people for them to be successful. This recruitment of new blood into the industry is a big part of Just Mortgages philosophy. The self-employed division now has 345 advisers and is looking to grow to 460 by this time next year.

Rodney Sloan, head of training at Just Mortgages, said: “Many self-employed brokers are lone wolves. They are brilliant brokers who are great at communicating with clients, however they lack the experience of managing another broker. The set of skills required is slightly different, and our training programme is designed to give these brokers all the tools they need to succeed.

“Key to the success of these programmes is the buy in from the participants. We never push people to take part and those who enrol onto the courses have to commit fully. Those who have committed have shown promising signs already and we are really excited about the future of the programme.”
