The Women in Residential Property network (WIRP) is organising a charity walk in London on 8th March 2022 to raise funds for Ella’s which supports women who’ve been the victims of trafficking and sexual exploitation and to mark International Women’s Day.
Anyone can join the walk, but all participants will be required to make a £25 donation to Ella’s. If you’d like to register contact Emma Vigus, chair of WIRP on emma.vigus@aon.co.uk. The walk will start at 12.30pm at Liverpool Street station and will cover approximately 10 miles taking in many of London’s landmark buildings.
Vigus said: “This is a great opportunity to raise funds for a fantastic charity and to make new connections in an informal setting.
“We are also walking to demonstrate our support for the International Women’s Day theme for 2022 which is to end violence against women.
“This is a topic that we’ve addressed at WIRP meetings and it’s one that will have touched the lives of many of our members both professionally and personally.
“The home is often the most dangerous place for victims of abuse with 75% of women killed by their partner or ex-partner in England and Wales being killed in their own home.
“We hope that in supporting the IWD theme, we can encourage more people in the residential property industry to recognise the signs of domestic abuse and to think about how they may be able to support victims.”
