The Mortgage Hut was founded in 2011 dealing with local clients and some small estate agents. It’s grown to a team of 40 who deal with over 100 customer enquiries per day from across the UK. Our advisers are all employed and mostly home-based and are based across the UK.
Where are you based and where do you operate geographically?
We’re based in Southampton, however, our team spans the whole of the UK, as do our customers.
What are the main issues impacting your local market?
The main challenge that affects our clients is the undersupply of good quality stock in the housing market.
What challenges are you facing as a broker?
The biggest challenge we face as an industry is the exceptionally low standards currently offered by the high volume, low service solicitors who the lenders offer free legals with. It promotes a terrible customer experience and an even worse customer outcome.
What are the main opportunities for brokers in your area and nationally?
Focusing on offering a truly exceptional customer experience, carving out your niche, and focusing on it. Ensuring that your business is set up for more than just the transaction, but to nurture a relationship with the clients.
What could lenders do to help further your business?
Focus on making sure they partner with solicitors who put the customer experience at the heart of what they do. Focusing on pricing is very short-sighted and is ultimately costing lenders money through aborted transactions.
