Aspen Bridging has pledged to plant a new UK tree for every case completed this year and beyond, which will reduce its overall Scope 1 and 2 emissions to below Net Zero in 2022.

The step will result in the removal of over 200 tons of CO2 by 2025 from the atmosphere and meets UK Government Environmental Reporting Guidelines for Scope 1 direct and Scope 2 indirect emissions.

In addition the lender has vowed to continue funding green projects, such as the £4.55m Development Exit bridge on an award winning private domestic passivhaus development in Kent, and refurbishment projects across the UK to improve EPC ratings.

Aspen Bridging is headquartered in Solihull, currently employs 22 staff and funds projects across England and Wales.

Jack Coombs, Director at Aspen Bridging, said: “It is vital that every business in the finance sector recognises the impact they have on the environment and takes steps to address their CO2 emissions.

“The commitment we’ve made today not only means we’ll offset beyond Net Zero for our Scope 1 & 2 emissions from 2022, but is also futureproof as we will maintain this position as we grow and add extra staff over the coming months and years.”
