Articus Finance is a boutique mortgage broker based in London, we find creative solutions for High Net Worth individuals who require financing on their worldwide assets.
We have been operational for almost three years, starting as a team of three (the founders) to a team of twelve with two more starting next month and a plan to reach a headcount of twenty by the end of the year.
Where are you based and where do you operate geographically?
We are based in Angel, London. We operate worldwide with our core business being in the UK. France, Monaco, Switzerland, Spain & USA are some of the other jurisdictions we operate in.
What are the main issues impacting your local market?
As with every industry the past few years have been uncertain at the best of times. Currently, with living costs rising and the cost of borrowing also rising, we are seeing a rather cautious market.
This cautiousness is not just reflected in the borrowers/investors but also the banks themselves. Having said that, there are always opportunities and creativity is the answer, fortunately Articus thrives when creative solutions are required.
What challenges are you facing as a broker?
The number one issue for all of our brokers a the moment is the responsiveness of the banks and their willingness to efficiently get a deal over the line.
This resonates in all the sectors we approach for lending; the private banks, the building societies, the family offices and the high street. I believe this is a result of the working from home model which still has teething problems and is not as efficient as before where a whole team would be in one room.
What are the main opportunities for brokers in your area and nationally?
For us, the specialist market is where we are seeing the most growth and I believe this will continue in the near-medium future. As I mentioned before, this is our bread and butter. The UK property market has always and will always be a haven for investors worldwide.
These types of clients require a more bespoke service with creative solutions which we have proven we can satisfy.
What could lenders do to help further your business?
Communication is key. Realistic timescales with realistic results will make our business much more effective for our clients.
