Housing Secretary Greg Clark departs

Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Greg Clark has been sacked by new Prime Minister Liz Truss.

Truss is currently reshuffling her Cabinet after winning the Conservative Party leadership race against former Chancellor Rishi Sunak.

Clark himself replaced Michael Gove after he was sacked by then outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson following the slew of resignations that led to his undoing.

Clark spent less than two months in the role having been appointed on July 7th.

Clark served in the Conservative/LibDem coalition as Minister of State in the Department for Communities and Local Government from 2010 to 2012.

It is speculated that he could be replaced by Simon Clarke who would be returning to the department after a prior stint as a Minister.

Jacob Rees-Mogg was also linked with the role in the build-up to Truss’s ascendency.
