Congratulations on winning Best Adviser Support and Training / Consumer Champion of the Year at the inaugural Later Life Lending Awards; how important is getting this recognition to you?

It’s lovely to be recognised for the work we’ve done in such an important sector of UK financial services.

What do you think sets your business apart from others in the field?

We take a holistic approach – drawing on our knowledge from nearly 30 years in wider financial services, we see things a little differently.

How important is it to recognise achievement in the sector?

It’s always important to take time out and reflect on what’s worked well.

This sector changes lives for the better every day – we should celebrate that.

Looking ahead how do you see the next 12 months playing out for the later life market?

There are some interesting times ahead – we have the ‘new normal’ of higher rates and the massive impact of Consumer Duty to come.

Advisers shouldn’t see the latter as ‘TCF 2’ – this is going to be big.

What advice would you give to someone looking to join the market?

Do it but do it properly. Take the time to learn beyond the ‘driving license’ of the regulated exam.

The sector is full of people who’ll help – take that help.

How do you rate your chances of defending your win next year?

There’s a huge amount of talent in the sector, we’re just proud to have been selected this year.
