Real estate funding specialist, ASK Partners, has been named European Small Ticket Lender of 2022 and European Mid-Market Deal of 2022 at the Real Estate Capital Europe awards.
The awards recognise real estate financiers across Europe, with winners being chosen through a strictly controlled public vote amongst industry players and the publication’s readers.
ASK Partners has written loans totalling around £425m and received £202m in redemptions during 2022.
The company has capitalised on the growth area of repurposing real estate, with many loans following the upward trends in commercial sectors such as office and retail, for conversions into lab space for life sciences or residential mixed-use schemes.
One such loan won the company European Mid-Market Deal of the year, alongside new partner OakNorth Bank, which acquired a 50% stake in ASK in October 2022.
Daniel Austin (pictured), CEO and co-founder of ASK, said: “We are delighted to have won these awards. We have now won Small-Ticket Lender two years in a row and are thrilled to have added Mid-Market Deal of the Year to our accolades.
“It means a lot to have been voted for by our clients, partners, and industry professionals; we’ve always worked hard to build strong relationships and meet borrowers’ needs with flexibility and fast turnaround times.”
“I think these award wins reflect our creativity as a lender in recognising unique real estate investment opportunities.
“Where appetite for certain asset classes has waned, repositioning prospects have arisen, which has given specialist lenders like us the opportunity to demonstrate our value-add over the traditional lenders.
“I believe 2023 will bring us more repurposing opportunities, particularly for life sciences where we already have a strong track record. I expect we’ll see many refinancing opportunities too, as a result of the macroeconomic backdrop.”
