Uswitch’s buy-to-let mortgage expert, Kellie Steed, offered advice on how to become a successful buy-to-let landlord.
More than two in five landlords agree that housing students is advantageous due to less difficulty finding tenants.
Landlords looking to invest in Glasgow should note that one in five students in Glasgow rank proximity to their university (20%) and security (20%) as their top priorities for accommodation.
Edinburgh’s students pay the second-highest average yearly rent in the UK (£11,544), second only to the University of Greenwich’s average yearly rent (£12,376).
However, they are less likely to have disputes with their landlords, with a third (33%) never having any related issues. Meanwhile, the University of Glasgow ranked third, with landlords seeing a return of 4.2% of their initial investment per year.
Overall, the index provides valuable insights for prospective student landlords on where to invest in student housing in the UK.
