Amii AGM panel outlines steps for members to comply with Consumer Duty

The Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries (Amii) held a panel at its annual general meeting (AGM) which outlined the steps members must take to comply with new Consumer Duty regulations.

The panel included Paul Nugent, CEO of Nugent Sante, and Branko Bjelobaba, director of Branko, Amii’s compliance partner.

The AGM, which took place at the British Motor Museum on 17th May, also saw the announcement of Karen Woodley to Amii’s 2023/24 executive committee, with David Middleton continuing in his role as executive chairman.

Middleton highlighted the achievements of the past 12 months, including a record year for new membership in 2022, alongside plans for the forthcoming financial year.

During the event, which focused on digital influence, included a speech from Jonathan Roomer, founder of health insurance business YuLife, and Richard Wyatt-Haines, founder and chairman of HCI, who outlined the advancements in technology to support the growing number of people with health conditions.

Middleton said: “I am delighted with the response we have had to this year’s event, which had a real focus on the way tech can influence and transform the way the industry operates and the services we offer to businesses and consumers.

“Jonathan’s talk was fascinating and really highlights the groundbreaking work YuLife are doing to shake up the life insurance industry. It has certainly sparked some thought and discussion on how technology can be implemented more widely to improve the user experience when it comes to life cover.”

He added: “We also heard some fascinating insights into the advancements being made for patients with long-term health conditions, and a speech on how we can measure positive employee wellbeing which felt very poignant during Mental Health Awareness Week.

“I’d like to thank the speakers and all those who attended for a fantastic event, which underlines the fantastic community we have created at Amii.”
