Hampden & Co appoints Mark Plummer as head of private banking in London

Hampden & Co has announced the appointment of Mark Plummer as head of private banking for its London office.

Plummer brings a wealth of experience, having begun his career at Coutts and subsequently holding positions at C. Hoare & Co, Barclays Wealth, and Handelsbanken.

Plummer’s appointment is part of Hampden & Co’s continued growth and expansion, as the bank reported a 73% year-on-year increase in total income for FY2022, reaching £23m. The number of clients increased by 11% to 4,700 in 2022, supported by deposit growth and demand for the bank’s lending services.

In his new role, Plummer will lead the London team of bankers and report to chief commercial officer, Andrew Bell.

The bank has also recently welcomed John Glanville, Kevin Eagles, Alistair Macpherson, Gill Saunders as banking directors, and Hannah Berridge as head of professional partnerships. By the end of 2022, Hampden & Co had 125 staff members, up from 102.

Commenting on his appointment, Plummer said: “Hampden & Co has developed strong momentum in the market, supported by a highly personalised service proposition which is delivered by an excellent team.

“We have significant ambitions for the bank which I’m confident we will meet and exceed over the coming years.”

Bell added: “Mark brings extensive knowledge of private banking and a proven track-record of building trusted relationships. Hampden & Co has grown into a major private banking player in the UK and his appointment underlines our ambition to continue to grow and deliver for clients and professionals.”
