Bibby Financial Services appoints new corporate manager

In a bid to strengthen its support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the North of England and Scotland, Bibby Financial Services (BFS), UK’s largest independent invoice financier, has appointed Colin Johnson (pictured) as corporate manager for Corporate North.

A seasoned financial services professional with over 34 years of experience, Johnson’s latest role was head of corporate sales at Novuna Business Finance. This significant hire is in line with BFS’s growth plans, reflecting its commitment to enhance corporate finance capabilities across the region.

Daniel Williams, regional head of Corporate North at BFS, remarked on Johnson’s appointment: “BFS is in growth mode, and our focus is on attracting, retaining and developing industry-leading talent. Colin’s extensive experience in invoice finance, working capital and asset based lending positions him perfectly to drive our business and sales strategies forward.”

Operating from Manchester, Johnson will be part of a team focusing on developing transactions for SMEs with a turnover of up to £100m. The team’s range of funding requirements includes working capital and cashflow, growth and expansion, management buy-ins and buy-outs (MBIs and MBOs), refinancing, restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions.

Reflecting on his new role, Johnson said: “With my experience supporting small businesses, this new role presents a fantastic opportunity to shape the future success of a business that I’ve always admired. I’m eager to expand our offering and product portfolio using my existing knowledge.

“It’s exciting to join BFS at a time when the company has such broad and deep SME funding capabilities. I look forward to working with my existing intermediary contacts and expanding my network across the North of England and Scotland, thereby strengthening BFS’s support for SMEs.”
