Leading banks are set to launch a £5m advertising campaign outlining how they can support struggling mortgage holders, Sky News is reporting.
Sky News quotes industry sources as saying the campaign had been agreed at the mortgage summit that took place last month with Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.
The summit resulted in the mortgage charter which has now seen over 85% of lenders agree to uphold.
Sky News added that the campaign is being orchestrated by trade body UK Finance. David Postings, chief executive of UK Finance, told Sky News: “We have launched this campaign with our members to make sure that anyone struggling with their mortgage payments knows that help is available.
“Lenders are ready to provide support even if a customer’s payments are up to date – if you’re struggling with your mortgage, or think that you will struggle, Reach Out to find out the options available for help.”
