Nigel Farage has hit out again claiming the closure of his bank account was a result of his viewpoints being at odds with his bank’s principles, according to Sky News.
He described the incident as “disgusting” and “abhorrent”, and referred to the dossier he received from Coutts as a “biased, malicious document”.
Farage said: “This is a clear case of the urban elite detesting the perspectives of the multitudes of us who reside beyond the confines of the M25. It’s nothing less than that.
“To be honest, I was taken aback, particularly by the intense hatred conveyed in the document.”
When asked about his desired outcome from this situation, Farage responded: “I have made this public because there have been numerous instances of people having their bank accounts shut down over the recent years, often due to political affiliations.
“Some of them were targeted because they were politically exposed individuals.
“Moreover, thousands of cash-operated businesses have been shut down. The banks justify this by saying that even local window cleaners could potentially be a cover for drug cartels.”
Farage restated his belief that the bank’s actions were driven by their disagreement with his viewpoints.
“All my viewpoints are within the bounds of the law,” he told Sky. “In fact, a majority of the country shares my opinions.
“I firmly believe that it’s high time for the Government to intervene.”
