Despite talk of landlords leaving the market in droves, quarterly data from Landbay revealed that the majority (64%) are not planning to sell any properties over the next 12 months.
Those with individual properties (75%) and smaller portfolios (69%) were the least likely to sell, but this was closely followed by those with more than 20 properties, at 65%.
The number of landlords planning to sell some properties over the next 12 months increased to 30%, from 28% in the previous quarter.
Across small, medium and large landlords, only 6% planned to sell all their properties in the next year.
Paul Brett, managing director, intermediaries at Landbay, said: “While it’s certainly the case that some landlords are trimming their portfolios in the current climate, our latest data demonstrates that the majority are not looking to make any cuts at all.
“This is positive news for the wider housing market which is so reliant on rental supply.”
