Together has announced the appointment of Richard Topliss, an experienced banking professional with over 40 years in the sector.
Topliss, formerly the managing director of corporate banking in the North for NatWest, will serve as a consultant to Together’s corporate team starting July 1st.
With its headquarters in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, Together has been providing corporate and commercial finance across the UK since 1974.
“I have known Together for more than 20 years, and have been inspired by its success and values in becoming one of the most remarkable privately-owned financial services businesses in the country,” said Topliss. “I’m thrilled to join such an innovative and entrepreneurial business to support the corporate team as it continues to expand its brand.”
Starting his career with NatWest in Bristol 45 years ago, Topliss has held roles in London, the West Midlands and Scotland before moving to the North in 2000 following the bank’s takeover by RBS.
He is a strong advocate for entrepreneurialism in the North, having served as the former chairman of The Growth Company, a Manchester-based social enterprise with a mission to create jobs and improve lives.
Topliss also holds non-executive directorship at British Engines Group and serves as chairman of Traditum Private Equity.
Together recently announced in its Q1 results that its lending had grown to £6.2bn, marking a 29.1% increase on the same period for the previous year, and a 4.6% increase from the previous quarter. The firm’s average monthly lending stood at £211.7m, with an underlying profit before tax of £41.3m.
