Generation Rent makes no eviction plea in open letter to mortgage providers

Ben Twomey, chief executive of Generation Rent, has sent an open letter to mortgage providers asking them not to evict tenants from the homes of landlords who have defaulted on their mortgages.

This letter came just two months after the Government collaborated with lenders to introduce a 12-month grace period on repossessions in a bid to help struggling borrowers.

However, there was no discussion of repossession changes in the rental market, despite the fact that landlords are increasingly coming under pressure from rising mortgage repayments, and renters continue to struggle due high rental costs.

In light of this inaction, Generation Home called for more support for the often-overlooked area of the market.
