National brokerage firm Just Mortgages has announced the promotion of John Doughty (pictured) to the role of managing director for the employed Orion chapter.
Doughty, who has nearly two decades of experience across estate agency, mortgages, and financial services, will oversee more than 90 members of staff, including almost 60 brokers in the chapter.
The new role will also involve liaison with the Spicerhaart estate agency chains and provide additional support to brokers, helping them with daily activities, high-level training, mentoring, and exploring progression opportunities.
Doughty’s journey with Just Mortgages started in 2008 as a mortgage consultant based in Weston-super-Mare and Taunton.
Since then, his career has advanced through roles including divisional sales manager and director for Wales and the west of England, before joining the new build division.
He is perhaps most recognised for his recent role as financial services director for the division, where he helped triple broker numbers to 28 in just four years, working alongside Paul Wilson.
He will continue to be involved in Just Mortgages New Build and succeeds Tommy Taylor in his new role. Taylor will remain with the Spicerhaart family as estate agency managing director. Doughty will also work closely with fellow chapter managing director Duncan Jones.
“I’m thrilled to be taking this next step in my career with Just Mortgages,” said Doughty, reflecting on his promotion. “It’s also a great chance to return to my roots and work closely with the estate agency side of the business.”
John Phillips, national operations director at Just Mortgages, expressed his confidence in Doughty, adding: “John has been a part of the team for more than 13 years and is a great example of the opportunities available at Just Mortgages. John’s skills and experience will be a real asset as our employed division and the wider business continues to reach new heights.”
