Newcastle Building Society retains Investors in People Platinum status

Newcastle Building Society has maintained its Investors in People (IIP) Platinum status, having been re-awarded this top accreditation for another three years.

The award recognises the society’s commitment to investing in its staff through training and development, leadership and fostering a positive work environment.

The Platinum accreditation is an honour held by only 6% of organisations assessed by IIP. Newcastle Building Society first achieved this status in 2020.

Karen Brewerton, chief people officer at Newcastle Building Society, said the recognition was vital to the organisation: “Our colleagues are at the heart of our continued success and are our most important asset. Retaining this accreditation is a reflection of our passionate and dedicated team.”

Growth within the society has been marked since it was first awarded Platinum IIP, with nearly 400 new colleagues joining, more products and services reaching customers, and increased involvement in local communities.

Graeme Mills, senior IIP specialist, praised the society for placing its people at the heart of its cultural and commercial strategies. He observed: “The pay-off is clear both commercially and culturally, seen through improving financial metrics and exceptional employee engagement scores. Its IIP survey scores are very high, and in many areas are the best in their sector.”
