Shadow Chancellor meets with NACFB about intermediary community

The National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB) met with Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves yesterday (30th August) to discuss the role of intermediary-led lending.

The association used insights from its most recent survey, as well as points from its submission last month to the cross-party inquiry into small to medium enterprise (SME) access to finance.

The NACFB met with the Shadow Chancellor in order to advocate for the intermediary-led route to market, and emphasised how the broker community was a critically underexploited avenue.

The association asked that the Labour Party take this sector into consideration as part of its future policy strategies.

Paul Goodman, chair of the NACFB, said: “The next party in power will need to utilise existing resources.

“The broker market, including all NACFB Members, are primed, ready to serve, and continue to offer a robust solution for serving SMEs effectively.”

The next General Election must be held no later than 24th January 2025, but the Government has been urged to consider calling one as soon as spring 2024.
