Cheadle-based financial lender Together has announced a £1m commitment to various charitable organisations as a cornerstone of its newly unveiled Thrive Together initiative.
Aimed at bolstering community support, the initiative is an extension of the lender’s broader sustainability strategy.
The company, known for offering personal and commercial loans, has a history of community involvement.
Among its previous charitable donations are significant contributions to affordable housing projects for young people facing homelessness, and educational initiatives in the construction sector at a local Cheshire college.
Notable past recipients of Together’s charitable endeavours include Manchester-based Centrepoint, which was granted £250,000 for its Independent Living Programme designed to provide quality, affordable housing to young people.
Additionally, a £100,000 donation was made to Forever Manchester to establish the ‘Together Energy Fund’. This fund aims to assist community centres across Greater Manchester struggling with soaring energy costs.
Other beneficiaries include St Ann’s Hospice, which offers support to adults with life-limiting illnesses, and The Joshua Tree, a childhood cancer charity. Both received substantial donations that have enabled them to continue their critical community services.
Together will also be sustaining its ongoing charitable partnership with the Seashell Trust, a Greater Manchester-based organisation committed to serving children and young people with complex needs and additional communication challenges.
Apart from financial contributions, the company has a strong culture of volunteerism. Last year alone, employees devoted over 2,700 hours to various causes ranging from landscape restoration with The National Trust to participation in the Manchester Marathon.
Gerald Grimes (pictured), CEO designate at Together, said: “Given the current economic climate, our communities need us now more than ever. As a responsible lender, we have committed to donating £1m to community projects in 2023 as part of our Thrive Together Initiative.
“Over the past year, we have already been able to help organisations across the region; addressing crucial societal issues such as homelessness.
“Thrive Together is our commitment to good causes. We see this initiative as a long-term commitment to improving the lives of people locally and nationally while raising awareness of their individual goals.”
