Emma Huepfl appointed chair of Commercial Property Forum

Emma Huepfl has been appointed as chair of the Commercial Property Forum (CPF) – a Bank of England convened, industry-led group which monitors the commercial property sector.

Huepfl previously established two independent businesses managing bank and institutional capital investing into UK real estate debt. 

She was co-head of the EMEA Credit platform of CBRE Investment Management from 2019-2022, where she also served on the firm’s Global Investment Committee.

Huepfl’s industry service includes nine years as a board member for CREFC, the trade body for the real estate finance industry, which she chaired between 2019 and 2021.

She is a current non-executive board member of April Mortgages Ltd. 

The forum meets quarterly and includes developers, lenders, valuers, agents, advisers, analysts and academics, as well as other experts and commentators.

The forum was set up in in 1993 and works alongside the Residential Property Forum.

Both forums help inform the work of the Financial Policy Committee.

Sarah Breeden, executive director financial stability strategy and risk at the Bank of England, said: “The Commercial Property Forum provides a crucial source of market intelligence and valued input into policymaking functions of the FPC.

“Emma, with her extensive and varied sector expertise, will provide excellent leadership for the work of the Forum.” 

Huepfl said: “It’s a privilege to be appointed as Chair of the Commercial Property Forum and I will be working to apply my experience and draw upon a broad network of market participants to support the work of the Bank of England during a time of change and challenge for the commercial property market and its stakeholders.”

Emma was appointed in an open process, will start with immediate effect and serve for three years.

She replaces Marc Mogull, who recently finished his term.
