LV= General Insurance has once again launched a General Insurance Awareness month for independent financial advisers (IFAs), during the month of October.
The initiative, named ‘Bring it Home’, was designed to bring general insurance (GI) into the conversation between advisers and their clients during mortgage and remortgage conversations.
The campaign was created following the success of the previous one in 2022, with LV= donating over £4,500 to Family Action.
With the significant rise in costs of materials for home repairs and rebuilds, as well as contents such as household furniture, there is a risk some homeowners could be underinsured.
In addition, last year 68% of bicycle claims occurred away from the home, with thefts went up 54%, and 26% of home claims were for accidental damage.
The insurer also saw its highest number of fire claims from reflective materials in 2022, and data showed that fire claims caused by the rays of the sun increased by 233% compared to 2021.
In the winter months, claims usually spiked for burglary, storms and floods, which can see claims costs reaching as high as £30,000.
Advisers signing up to ‘Bring it Home’ will get access to a variety of sales aids and tools
LV= also pledged to donate £5 to Family Action – the company’s charity partner – for every home insurance policy sold.
The insurer partnered with Family Action to raise awareness of their FamilyLine, the free and confidential service providing adult family members with support and guidance.
Sarah Watts, head of intermediary at LV= General Insurance, said: “General insurance is a really important product as it ultimately helps protect the things you love – your home and possessions.
“We know our partners and advisers have a vast amount of expertise which can make a real difference to help ensure clients have the level of cover they need come the unexpected.”
