Hunt’s inheritance tax plans are ‘half-baked and half-hearted’, deVere Group CEO

Jeremy Hunt’s proposal to reduce inheritance tax by 10% in the upcoming Autumn Statement has been criticised as insufficient by Nigel Green, CEO of deVere Group.

Green characterised the plans as “half-baked and half-hearted,” suggesting a complete abolition of the tax would be more appropriate.

He pointed out that inheritance tax, which significantly affects middle-class families, should be removed entirely to prevent the increasing burden on ordinary households and ensure legacy security for future generations.

Green argues for more decisive action, stating: “Scrapping inheritance tax… would not only be the right thing to do, but also an historic, popular vote-winning strategy.”
