NatWest introduces ‘Home Energy Hub’ to aid UK homeowners in energy efficiency

NatWest has launched a ‘Home Energy Hub’, a comprehensive platform designed to support all UK homeowners in enhancing their property’s energy efficiency.

This tool provides insights into sustainable home improvements, addressing common hurdles such as finding reliable contractors and managing finances for the upgrades.

Research indicates that two-thirds of UK homeowners aim to boost their property’s sustainability within the next decade, yet financial constraints remain a significant obstacle.

The Home Energy Hub addresses these concerns by offering a cost calculator for retrofit options, a directory of verified service providers, and information on available government grants.

Lloyd Cochrane, NatWest’s head of mortgages, stressed the importance of making energy efficiency solutions more accessible. “We recognise the challenges homeowners face in initiating energy improvements,” Cochrane said. “This hub simplifies the process, offering a streamlined approach to commissioning work and exploring financing options, ensuring customers can navigate their energy efficiency journey with confidence.”

The initiative aligns with NatWest’s commitment to sustainability and follows their partnership with the Supply Chain Sustainability School to foster retrofitting skills in the construction industry.

Gail Parker, British Gas’s low carbon homes director, highlighted the initiative’s role in accelerating home decarbonisation. “Our collaboration with NatWest is crucial in providing personalised advice to homeowners, enabling them to make informed decisions that contribute to lowering emissions and reducing energy bills,” Parker said.
