The Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, has scheduled the Spring Budget for 6th March 2024.
In preparation, the Office for Budget Responsibility has been tasked with compiling an economic and fiscal forecast to be presented to Parliament on this date.
Nathan Emerson, CEO of Propertymark, has emphasised the importance of housing in the upcoming Spring Budget. He said: “Propertymark are keen to see housing play a pivotal role within the coming Spring Budget, beyond all else, a robust housing plan is the underpinning of every community across the entire UK. It is vital momentum remains switched on to ensuring the supply of quality homes always matches demand.”
Emerson further highlighted the necessity for comprehensive strategies that cater to all societal sectors, from first-time buyers to long-term renters.
He stressed that while a universal solution to housing is unfeasible, there’s a need for “an accelerated level of support, innovation, and incentives to encourage a diverse mix of housing in order to keep pace.”
