Ecology Building Society launches ‘Renovation Hub’ for retrofitting advice

Ecology Building Society has launched its new Renovation Hub, to support consumers with specialist advice on sustainable home renovation projects.

The new online multimedia hub offers guidance on different green home improvements like insulation, renewable heating systems and renewable energy sources, as well as how to plan and finance a project.

The new Renovation Hub comprises a range of content including informative blogs, member stories and retrofit experiences, and live webinars consumers can attend virtually; putting their own questions to experts about their personal sustainable renovation project.

Working hard to increase education and collaboration, Ecology’s hub also offers a free in-depth eco renovation guide walks consumers through the basics of a renovation project, such as setting goals and taking a ‘fabric first’ approach, discusses the benefits of renewable heating systems, solar energy and retrofit measures, and outlines different financing options.

Dan Capstick, mortgage product manager at Ecology, said: “Starting a renovation project can be very daunting and complex, and we know from experience that people are craving information from experts they can trust. We created the Renovation Hub to fill this gap and demystify the process – from planning, to solutions, to finance.

“A collection of shared wisdom from our in-house experts and valued Members, the hub is designed to support people starting out on their renovation and retrofit journeys. Whether Ecology Members or not, we want to help everyone succeed and accelerate the UK’s transition to sustainable housing as a result.”

He added: “Housing accounts for a significant proportion of the UK’s carbon emissions.

“In order to progress our mission of building a greener society, we must continue to support householders and renovators in being more energy efficient and encourage the transformation of the country’s housing stock into sustainable homes that are cheaper to run and fit for the future.”
