RAW Capital Partners appoints former regulator as head of risk and compliance

RAW Capital Partners has announced the appointment of Victoria Smallman, a former supervisor at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), as its new head of risk and compliance. Smallman, with extensive experience gained at the FCA and Capita, where she rose to head of growth, risk, and compliance, has recently relocated to Guernsey to assume her new role.

During her tenure at the FCA, Smallman earned the FCA Infinity Award as an FCA Change Ambassador. Her career at Capita involved ensuring compliance with national and international regulations across high-value projects.

Smallman expressed her enthusiasm about her new position: “I’m absolutely delighted to join RAW Capital Partners and move to Guernsey with my family. Combining specialist mortgages and alternative investment opportunities, RAW is an excellent business and is experiencing phenomenal growth – I’m excited to play my part in ensuring this continues.”

Ben Nichols, interim managing director at RAW Capital Partners, also commented on the appointment: “Victoria is a brilliant addition to our team, and she has made an immediate positive impact. I’m confident that we will continue to benefit from her extensive expertise and experience as we accelerate our growth.”

The Guernsey-based investment management firm aims to expand its RAW Mortgage Fund from £180m to over £1bn in the forthcoming years. RAW Capital Partners has doubled its size in 2023, now employing more than 40 people in Guernsey, Southampton, and London.
