Housing Minister Lee Rowley loses seat

Lee Rowley, the Minister for Housing, Planning and Building Safety, has lost his seat.

The MP for North East Derbyshire since 2017, has lost his seat to Labour’s Louise Jones, and is part of an exodus of Conservative MPs and Ministers as Labour achieves a landslide victory at the polls.

Rowley was appointed Minister of State for Housing in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities on 13th November 2023 becoming the 16th incumbent of the role since 2010

Previously, he served as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the same department from 7th September 2022 to 13th November 2023.

Rowley had a majority of 2,861, and his election in 2017 was notable as he became the first Conservative MP for North East Derbyshire since 1935.
