The Intermediary’s inaugural industry awards event, The National Mortgage Awards (NMA) – Second Charge, will take place on 14th November 2024.
The evening event, in association with headline sponsor Pure Panel Management, will take place at the iconic RIBA building in Portland Place, London, and will feature a drinks reception, dinner, live entertainment, a celebrity host, and more.
Across more than 20 categories, NMA – Second Charge was launched to celebrate excellence in this specific market, previously relegated to single awards within whole-of-market events.
With awards for individuals and companies, brokers and lenders, as well as industry partners and champions, this event will deep-dive into all the moving parts of a thriving market primed for further growth.
Awards such as ‘Packager of the Year’, ‘Underwriter of the Year’ and ‘BDM of the Year’ focus on the individuals keeping the market moving, while ‘Best B2B Broker’, ‘Best Product Range’ and ‘Best Use of Innovation’ take a look at the businesses at the forefront of the sector.
Nominations and voting will take place across various stages, including an initial nominations stage opening next week, followed by extensive research to select finalists.

Judging for most categories will be judged by a selection of the 10 most influential lenders and brokers in the industry. A panel of brokers will judge the lender categories, and lenders the broker categories.
Once selected, the judges will be sent an invitation through with a QR code, providing access to the specific categories they have been chosen for; judging will be conducted via a hand-delivered letter and voting card.
Ryan Fowler, publishing director at The Intermediary, said: “We were never going to do awards, we thought there were already enough of them in the market – that’s not a bad thing, it’s a situation that has grown out organically.
“Our whole purpose is to do something different – just like we didn’t want to put out ‘just another magazine’ – and to support the industry.
“We are really actively engaging with the second charge market to make sure the categories aren’t ‘one-size-fits-all’, and that we support and promote the industry, showing the build-up and all the good stuff that’s happening.
“We want to give second charges a platform, and this is a good opportunity to do it.”
