In a recent poll, TMA Mortgage Club found a growing number of its broker firms were using specialist lenders.
Brokers reported that they expected to place more specialist business over the coming year.
All brokers surveyed said they were comfortable dealing with specialist lenders and 29% expected to sell a lot more in 2025.
Lisa Martin, development director, said: “We know that the market has been hard for borrowers and brokers and that an increasing number of cases are falling outside conventional lending criteria.
“People today work longer, often have multiple sources of income, and have had to battle a severe cost-of-living crisis with many varied consequences on affordability and payment histories.
“It’s no surprise brokers increasingly believe they will need lenders who can embrace this level of complexity.
“We feel brokers have a real opportunity to further extend the relationship and the service they offer to borrowers by considering specialist lenders and its why we have a support desk to support those that are placing this kind of business.”
