EXCLUSIVE: VAS panel strengthens quality control with key appointment

VAS Panel has appointed Rebecca Mohammed MRICS (pictured) as valuation audit manager to further strengthen its quality control division to match projected growth.

Reporting to David Birch FRICS, valuation audit director, Mohammed’s key responsibilities will include auditing of RICS Red Book valuation reports across all property sectors, with an emphasis on houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) and residential properties.

She will also provide valuation support to VAS Panel’s team of valuation auditors, dealing with queries and offering technical expertise.

From June 2021-2024, Mohammed held the role of chartered surveyor at Kempston-Parkes Chartered Surveyors, before which she was audit risk and control consultant at both Atos and UKAR Corporate Services.

VAS Panel is part of VAS Valuation Group, which now employs more than 50 people, with the majority working from the business’ HQ in Middlesbrough, plus more than 20 chartered surveyors in the quality control team.

From January to September 2024, the company has seen volumes up 25% against the same period in 2023, which was the best year in its trading history.

Birch said: “As the company continues its upwards trajectory we must have the right people and technology in place to continue to deliver a market-leading service for brokers, lenders and valuers.

“Rebecca has a track record and the right experience to play a pivotal role in not only maintaining valuation reporting standards but pushing them even higher, she will help us maintain our position as a centre-of-excellence in the valuation sector.”
