Three-quarters of home sellers trust their estate agent – eXp UK

More than 1,000 UK home sellers found that 95% felt it was crucial to trust their chosen estate agent, and 75% of respondents stated they ultimately trusted their agent.

Face-to-face interaction with the agent was the most important factor in building trust, followed by of mouth from previous clients came next.

eXp UK asked which parts of the selling process made sellers feel able to trust their agent the most.

The ability to set an asking price that aligned with current market conditions topped the list.

Frequent and clear communication also ranked high, pushing the transaction to completion and negotiating offers.

When asked where they felt least able to trust their agent, a lack of support after a sale completed stood out.

The ability to handle issues during the process, such as chain delays, also ranked high as a concern. Sellers worried about advice on how to boost a home’s market value.

Adam Day, head of eXp UK, said: “Trust is incredibly important when it comes to attracting sellers as the sale of their home is not only the largest they are ever likely to make, but it’s often a decision riddled with emotional attachment.

“It’s great to see that the vast majority of sellers trust their estate agent and this is largely cultivated through personal interaction, as well as word of mouth from other happy customers.

“It’s also interesting to see that an honest market appraisal and frequent communication are the two biggest factors that help build trust during the transaction process.”
