Cirencester Friendly makes key promotions, launches apprenticeship programme

Cirencester Friendly has made two key promotions in its underwriting and claims teams to underscore its commitment to nurturing talent.

Rob Higgins (pictured) has moved up from claims manager to senior manager – claims.

Higgins, who joined the Society in 2020, has helped achieve a claims payout rate of over 95% in 2023, with this being his second promotion.

Sue Kissane has been promoted from senior medical underwriter to underwriting manager, where she will lead the underwriting team and focus on maintaining high-quality service in alignment with the company’s vision and values.

Additionally, Cirencester Friendly has launched an apprenticeship programme for 2024, accepting eight participants into customer-facing and technical roles.

The programme includes on-the-job training, time with the senior leadership team, and virtual courses aimed at securing a nationally recognised qualification.

The society said it hopes the apprentices will build their careers within the organisation after completing the two-year course.

CEO Andy Morris said: “If Cirencester Friendly is to achieve its growth ambitions, investing in both current and new talent is vital.

“Sue and Rob’s hugely deserved promotions reflect our commitment to this aim.

“I want our employees to feel they can develop and progress within the Society and we actively encourage regular career conversations between line managers and employees.

“By creating the apprenticeship programme, we can ensure we develop the skills we need to grow the business in-house.

“I and the rest of the senior leadership team are committed to creating an inclusive and supporting culture where every employee feels valued and empowered to achieve their career goals.”
