Mutual society Shepherds Friendly has appointed Mark Myers (pictured) as chair.
Myers, who starts on 1st January 2024, has been a non-executive director at the mutual society since 2019.
He succeeds Nemone Wynn-Evans, who is stepping down at the end of her term.
Myers has 40 years of experience in financial services, having worked in senior roles in both public and mutual organisations.
His background includes serving as CEO of British Friendly and as former chair of Direct Life and Pensions/LifeQuote.
He has also held positions at the Association of Financial Mutuals and LV=, and is a committee member of Huntingdon Racecourse.
Myers said: “It’s an honour to be appointed Chair, and I must thank Nemone for her service.
“Shepherds Friendly is almost 200 years young, and we’ve thrived by keeping true to our values and heritage while remaining relevant to today’s digital-first consumers.
“I’ve had the pleasure of seeing the Society expand first-hand, and I’m excited to steer it towards further sustainable growth and success as it continues to operate in the best interests of its members.”
Ann-Marie O’Dea, CEO of Shepherds Friendly, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Mark as our new Chair.
“His contributions as Non-Executive Director have been so valuable, and his extensive knowledge and insight will be of even greater benefit as we meet evolving member and market needs.”
