In December 2024, HM Land Registry transactions data revealed that over 1.5 million applications were completed to change or query the Land Register.
The South East recorded the highest number of applications, with 340,271 submitted.
The total of 1,511,662 applications in December decreased from over 1.9 million in November, but marked an increase from 1,335,792 in December 2023.Â
Of the December applications, 272,715 were for register updates, down from 306,054 in November.
There were 803,687 requests for official copies of registers, compared to around 1.1 million in November.
In addition, search and hold queries amounted to 184,798, a decrease from 209,365 the previous month.
Transactions for value reached 59,822, down from 89,170, while postal applications from non-account holders totaled 13,961, compared with 16,723 in November.
In terms of regional applications, the South East had 340,271 applications in December, with Greater London following at 288,481.
Other regions included the North West with 172,475, the South West with 145,843, the West Midlands with 125,505, Yorkshire and the Humber with 120,797, and East Midlands with 114,380.
The North had 73,201 applications, East Anglia recorded 63,919, and Wales had 66,654.
The Isles of Scilly submitted 57 applications, while England and Wales not assigned had 79.
The total application figures for the months of October, November, and December were 2,140,187, 1,943,101, and 1,511,662 respectively.
