SunLife has formed a partnership with health support service RedArc, allowing access to free support to anyone who purchases a Guaranteed Over 50 Plan.
The service also covers policyholders’ partners and children living at the same address.
RedArc provides people with regular support from a registered nurse, to discuss health concerns, treatment and recovery.
It describes itself as “providing the time that the medical profession is not always able to,” especially with the current pressures on the NHS.
As part of the new service – which came into effect from the 27th of December – a nurse will be assigned to each customer who purchases the Guaranteed Over 50 Plan, providing one-to-one support until the service user decides they no longer need the service.
In addition, the RedArc nurses will provide research and resources regarding a diagnosis, supply books and medical equipment, arrange counselling, therapies or a second opinion.
Ian Cooper, commercial and partnerships director at SunLife, said: “I am delighted to announce SunLife’s new Health and Wellbeing service partner, RedArc, which is available to anyone purchasing a Guaranteed Over 50 Plan from 27th December 2024.
“Health and wellbeing becomes an increasing concern as we get older, so I hope many of our customers will benefit from the support and advice that RedArc’s nurses provide, should they need it.
“The experienced, registered nurses at RedArc can provide free, professional and compassionate support – both for customers and their families – for as long as they need it.”
He added: “We know that some of the most common conditions that people over 50 seek support for are cancer, mental health and orthopaedic issues.
“Whether you’re grieving, struggling with your mental health, or suffering from a physical health problem such as cancer or long COVID, having a registered nurse to guide you through the twists and turns can be invaluable.
“Support is available for any significant physical or mental illness, even if it hasn’t been diagnosed.
“You have contact with the same Personal Nurse throughout, and they will tailor their support to your needs.”
Christine Husbands, director at RedArc, said: “We are delighted to be chosen by SunLife to provide our nurse-led support to their customers and families.
“We have many years’ experience in supporting people over 50, and we know that this age group is much more likely to have serious health concerns.
“The benefit of having a one-to-one relationship with a dedicated nurse to support individuals and their families at times of serious ill-health cannot be underestimated.”
