The Cambridge appoints non-executive director

The Cambridge Building Society has appointed Stephen O’Donnell (pictured) as non-executive director.

O’Donnell will join the board and risk committee, bringing with him a wealth of experience in technology, finance, and the mutual sector.

Previously, he served as chief information officer at the Coventry Building Society, where he led a digital transformation of member-facing platforms.

O’Donnell said: “My father was a member of the Ancient Order of Foresters. He saved until we could afford the deposit on our family home.

“I want to serve and ensure continuity for this movement, which supports societal good through financial independence.”

O’Donnell added: “The mutual sector played a crucial role in my family’s financial journey, and I’m committed to ensuring its future.

“I look forward to supporting The Cambridge in its mission to continue to find new ways of helping people have a home.”

John Spence, chair of the Cambridge, said: “We are delighted to welcome Stephen to our board. His extensive knowledge of technology, risk, and governance will be a huge asset.

“His background in financial services and mutuals will help us continue to serve our members with integrity and innovation.”
