116,000 homebuyers at risk of missing Stamp Duty deadline, says Moverly

Moverly has revealed that around 116,000 homebuyers in the UK are at risk of missing an important Stamp Duty deadline.

According to Moverly, these buyers have agreed on purchases but haven’t exchanged contracts.

With the expected changes, the number of duty-free homes will drop significantly, impacting both current and future buyers.

It takes an average of 14.5 days to move from exchange of contracts to completion, based on analysis from Moverly.

With almost 250,000 homes for sale within the current nil-rate threshold, those not exchanged by 17th March risk missing the deadline.

Gemma Young, chief executive officer at Moverly, said: “Time is running out to beat the stamp duty deadline and buyers should now be pushing to exchange contracts by 17th March in order to give themselves a good chance of completing by the 31st.”
