Monmouthshire Building Society has been named a finalist in the British HR Awards 2025, with the awards set to take place in April.
The society’s Community Academy initiative was recognised under the Recruitment Initiative of the Year category.
Earlier this year, the initiative was also shortlisted for the HR Wales awards.
The Community Academy offers six paid entry-level placements for 12 months to create career opportunities in financial services.
17-year-old Alesha Amin started her career last September through the academy.
Amin said: “When I heard about the academy it seemed like a great opportunity to learn on the job, gain a qualification and earn some money.
“I liked what the society had to say about supporting members, meeting new people and the opportunities to grow your career with an organisation that cares about people.”
Beverley Flood, head of people at Monmouthshire Building Society, said: “Our Community Academy is more than a recruitment initiative, it’s about creating real opportunities, nurturing potential and empowering people to build a brighter future.
“Being nominated for two prestigious awards is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and passion behind the initiative.”
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Covent Garden, London, on 2nd April.
