Newcastle Building Society welcomes two new members to board of directors

Newcastle Building Society has announced the appointments of Amanda Shepherd and Professor Moorad Choudhry to its board.

Shepherd was appointed chief operating officer (COO) at the dociety in 2024, and plays a key role on the group’s executive team leading the operations, processing, technology and change functions.

As executive director on the board, she brings over 30 years’ experience working in the financial sector.

Her success in developing and implementing change strategies to align with business objectives will be key to the development and delivery of the society’s strategic plan and the overall group strategy.

Choudhry joins the society as non-executive director (NED) and brings with him over 30 years’ experience in the financial services sector, working across a diverse set of bank operating models and business cultures.

Prior to his appointment to the Newcastle Building Society board Choudhry held senior roles at Loughborough Building Society, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Europe Arab Bank and JPMorgan Chase Bank among others.
