The Cambridge donates over £117,000 to boost local community initiatives

The positive impact of The Cambridge Building Society on local charities and community initiatives was highlighted in a report published this week.

The Impact Review outlined the significant contributions made during a record-breaking year, which saw the society expand its support for people trying to get onto the housing ladder.

In 2024, The Cambridge donated £117,401 to local causes, with £59,127 going to six local charities via their Community Fund.

New partnerships were launched with Emmaus, Jimmy’s, and The Angel’s Foundation to help provide housing and shelter.

The report also noted that over 2,000 individuals benefitted from the financial support and grants provided.

Additionally, 131 staff members volunteered over 1,000 hours to support local projects.

The society also welcomed member Jodie to its Community Fund Panel and added three properties to its Rent to Home scheme, which supports first-time buyers.

Carole Charter, chief commercial officer at The Cambridge, said: “Reflecting on the different ways we’ve been making a difference always brings me tremendous pride and 2024 was a special year for the society.

“We expanded and strengthened many of our initiatives, enabling us to further support our community.

“We want to make a long-lasting impact in our community as we celebrate our 175th anniversary this year, and so we have pledged to donate £175,000 to good causes and added two new Rent to Home properties, with more announcements still to come.”
