Canada Life appoints new bulk annuities managing director

Canada Life has appointed Shreyas Sridhar (pictured) as managing director of bulk purchase annuities (BPA), effective from 7th April 2025, pending regulatory approval.

Sridhar will join the Canada Life UK executive committee and report to Lindsey Rix-Broom, UK chief executive at Canada Life UK.

Sridhar, an experienced executive in financial services, joined Canada Life in February 2024 as business development director for its BPA business.

Before joining Canada Life, he spent eight years at Legal & General’s pension risk transfer business, most recently as head of reinsurance & international development.

He has also worked as a structured finance and derivatives lawyer.

He takes over from Tim Coulson, who will continue in an advisory role at Canada Life before retiring at the end of 2025.

Sridhar said: “I’m incredibly honoured and excited to be taking up the mantle of leading Canada Life’s bulk annuities business.

“I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Tim for his leadership and guidance, which has helped transform our business in these past two years.

“This is an exciting time for the bulk annuities market, and I look forward to working with my talented colleagues to drive Canada Life’s ambitious plans.”

Rix-Broom said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Shreyas to the UK Executive team as Managing Director of Bulk Purchase Annuities.

“He is an exceptional executive with a wealth of experience and has been instrumental in leading the growth of our bulk annuities business, which continues to go from strength to strength.

“I would also like to express my sincere thanks to Tim for his outstanding leadership and contribution to Canada Life over the last two years.”

Rix-Broom added: “Having strengthened our BPA proposition and successfully built on our strong foundations, Tim has decided now is the right time to move towards retirement.

“However, we are delighted that he has agreed to continue to support Canada Life for the remainder of this year.”
