Completions in final five days of March surpass full month last year, says Simplify

Completion volumes in the last five days of March 2025 exceeded those recorded in the whole of March 2024, according to estimates from Simplify.

The data comes as another Stamp Duty deadline passes, with the conveyancing sector reporting an unprecedented effort to complete as many transactions as possible ahead of the cut-off.

Simplify said it completed more than 6,500 mover transactions in the final five days of March.

The business attributed this volume to sustained investment in technology and training, as well as a concerted operational push in recent weeks.

Beyond conveyancers, Simplify acknowledged the role of other stakeholders in facilitating the surge.

Many estate agents were said to have adapted workflows to give conveyancers the space to prioritise completions.

Lenders also worked to issue mortgage offers and release funds within tighter timeframes, while the Bank of England and commercial payment providers extended operational hours to handle elevated transaction volumes.

Simplify said the peak marked the culmination of months of preparation and coordination across the housing and finance sectors.

David Grossman, CEO of Simplify, said: “This has been a monumental effort by everyone involved.

“The dedication and collaboration across the industry have been truly inspiring.

“We are grateful for the support from the Bank of England and other payment providers, which has been crucial in achieving these record numbers.”
