Shawbrook supports ScotLend with £20m deal for national expansion

ScotLend has secured a £20m facility from Shawbrook to bolster its national footprint in the bridging finance market.

The facility supports ScotLend’s offering of loans between £30,000 to £2m across the UK and marks a significant milestone for Shawbrook’s speciality finance team as their first transaction in support of a Scottish-based lender.

Founded in 2024 by David Travers and Sanjay Agarwal, ScotLend plans to expand and continue supporting businesses nationwide with their bridging finance requirements.

ScotLend knew of Shawbrook’s experience in the wholesale funding market and worked with the speciality finance team to agree a bespoke facility that supports their immediate needs along with flexibility for future growth.

Shawbrook was assisted by Field Fisher and Morton Fraser MacRoberts on legal matters and Freeth’s acted as legal counsel for ScotLend.

David Travers, founder and CEO at ScotLend, said: “Our vision is to scale our business, while maintaining the company’s focus of customer service and professionalism.

“Shawbrook’s support is crucial in achieving this next step of ScotLend’s evolution, and their understanding of our market, long-term view and flexible deal structure aligns perfectly with our aspirations.”

Chris Clarke, senior director at Shawbrook, said: “We are delighted to partner with ScotLend and support their impressive growth plans.

“There were a range of factors to consider in this transaction, including Scottish legal aspects.

“Overcoming these legal nuances has been a testament to the collaborative efforts of both our teams, and we look forward to seeing ScotLend’s continued success.”
