Skipton appoints Graham Lindsay as senior independent director

Skipton Building Society has appointed Graham Lindsay to its board as senior independent director, replacing Mark Lund who has retired.

Lindsay will sit on the Skipton Building Society board, board nominations committee, board change committee, board remuneration committee, and the board audit committee.

Lindsay brings more than 45 years’ experience in retail, wealth and commercial banking, mainly at Lloyds Banking Group, where he worked in roles from branch networks to group marketing and HR director.

He has also served on the board of the Institute of Financial Services and the Professional Standards board, and recently stepped down as vice-chair and board member of The Brain Tumour charity, where he remains as an emeritus.

Lindsay said: “I was particularly attracted by Skipton’s clarity of purpose in helping people achieve their major financial life milestones.

“From climbing the property ladder, getting savings to work harder, to retiring with confidence.

“I can see it in the actions already taken and the ambitions and stretching future plans; it is clear that these are not empty words.”

Lindsay added: “I am excited to be joining such a high performing business & Board and I am encouraged by the ongoing plans to deliver value back to members.”

Gwyn Burr, chair of Skipton Group, said: “Graham’s appointment to the board reinforces our commitment to enhancing our leadership with proven expertise and deep insight into the financial services industry.

“His extensive experience and strong network, built over many years in UK financial services, combined with a passion for customer focus and employee engagement, will be a tremendous asset to Skipton.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Graham and look forward to the contribution he will make to our continued success.”
