Suros Capital assists developer with fast finance for renovation project

Suros Capital has provided a £100,000 short-term loan secured against gold bullion, enabling a property developer to complete a residential renovation project after conventional finance options failed to deliver in time.

The client, facing an urgent need for funding, was introduced to Suros Capital by their adviser, who recognised the developer’s significant holding in gold. Traditional bridging finance was ruled out due to time constraints, but the client’s bullion assets offered an immediate alternative route.

Following valuation and assessment, Suros Capital offered the full £100,000 required. Once approved, funds were transferred within five hours, allowing the developer to complete works and stay on schedule. The exit strategy is the planned sale of the property within the next three to four months.

Ray Palmer, director at Suros Capital, said: “This case is a perfect example of how luxury assets can unlock fast funding where conventional options fall short. I would urge every adviser to consider whether their clients hold valuable items such as gold, which can be used to raise significant finance almost immediately.”

Over the past decade, gold has appreciated by around 180%, significantly outperforming the FTSE 100’s 64% and even edging ahead of the S&P 500’s 167% gain.
