WeDo Business Services has moved to a new, larger headquarters in Oldham as part of its expansion plans, taking 7,000 sq ft of office space at Annie Kenney Mill. The move more than doubles the company’s footprint and supports its ambition to reach £100m in funds out within the next three years.
The new offices, located just 300 yards from the company’s former base at Meadowbank House, occupy the first floor of Annie Kenney Mill, part of the wider Mills Hollinwood development. The building features solar panels, an energy-efficient heat pump system, EV charging points and LED lighting, and is rated EPC A.
WeDo was founded in 2019 by joint chief executives Mark Lindsay and Chris Robinson with just four staff. The company has since grown to over 70 employees across multiple locations, offering a wide range of SME services including invoice and trade finance, asset finance, loans, accountancy, HR, IT and back-office support.
Mark Lindsay said: “When we set up WeDo back in 2019 with just four staff, we had a dream and a goal of making a difference, with a mission to look after each other, always do the right thing and have fun along the way.
“Fast-forward six years, and it’s amazing to think we now have a vastly-expanded team and have doubled our HQ office space as we make further strides towards becoming the business we want to be, looking ahead to our next phase of growth based on a plan to reach £100m of funds out within three years.”
The new space includes more meeting rooms, a media room, breakout areas and facilities designed for collaboration and content creation, as well as hosting brokers and clients. The office fit-out was managed by The DL Company, based in Sheffield.
Chris Robinson added: “We have stayed true to our roots as a business, as Annie Kenney Mill is only about 300 yards from where we set up originally.
“The new offices enable us to provide the best possible service to our clients and brokers, as well as a layout which fosters greater collaborative working where we can operate more efficiently.”
WeDo recently secured £50m in funding from Waterfall Asset Management to scale its support for SMEs. The company has also expanded its client base across sectors such as recruitment, engineering and manufacturing, and was named in the 2024 Sunday Times Best Places to Work list.
