OPDA selected as Smart Data Challenge finalist

The Open Property Data Association (OPDA) has been named as one of 10 finalists in the Department for Business & Trade Smart Data Challenge.

The entry from OPDA is focused on using smart data to change how homes are bought and sold.

Ed Molyneux, co-founder and chief technology officer at Moverly and chair of OPDA’s schema working group, is leading the project.

OPDA’s membership base is also backing the submission.

The aim is to see how smart data could make the property market more transparent and efficient.

The team will build a digital property pack and show what a smart property data economy could look like.

The project will be carried out with OPDA member firms, who will have access to a dedicated sandbox environment for the challenge.

This means members can help design and test new digital datasets and customer journeys for buyers and sellers.

Maria Harris (pictured), chair of OPDA, said: “This is a significant milestone for OPDA and a major opportunity to show how open data standards and smart technology can dramatically improve the property transaction experience.

“With our sector-wide collaboration and Ed’s leadership, we’re excited to co-create solutions that serve both consumers and the wider industry.”
