Brixham in Devon saw the biggest rise in bookings for holiday lets in 2025, with a 62% increase year-on-year, according to figures from Sykes Holiday Cottages.

The research found Teignmouth, also in Devon, had a 32% rise, while Saundersfoot in Pembrokeshire was up 31%.

Other fast-growing destinations included Newborough in Anglesey (30%), Paignton in Torbay (25%), and Porthmadog in Gwynedd (25%).

The report also highlighted Warkworth in Northumberland (25%), Bideford in Devon (24%), Weston-super-Mare in North Somerset (23%), and Morecombe in Lancashire (22%).

Additionally, Sykes’ Staycation Index showed families spent more on UK holidays, up 17% from the previous year to an average of £1,292 per family compared to £1,070 in 2024.

James Shaw, managing director at Sykes Holiday Cottages, said: “A significant number of Brits are planning to take a break within the UK this year which is positive news for holiday let owners up and down the country.

“Especially those with properties in ‘trending’ locations who are particularly well placed to benefit from increased occupancy.

“While we recognise that some owners are facing increasing pressure from recent tax changes, the continued growth in domestic bookings – particularly in trending locations – presents a valuable opportunity to offset those challenges with strong demand and healthy returns.”

Shaw added: “The enduring appeal of UK staycations is not only supporting local economies but also helping many owners navigate this shifting landscape.”
